The home was built in 1914 and designed by the architect who created all the houses in the Northwood Philadelphia area. Most of my homes history is locked up in the Frankford Historical Society. One day I will make an appointment to see what else I can find on it. Northwood was known as a place for doctors and lawyers to escape the hustle and bustle but still close to everything their families needed. According to some still living family members of the original owners, this home was a gift to the builders wife and was designed to replicate her parents’ home in Scotland. This is a single corner property. 3800 square feet. We have 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 2 powder rooms, full basement and attic. The home is built with stone, plaster and concrete. Mostly all original woodwork is in place. 10 and 12 foot ceilings, functioning fireplace, main staircase has a second floor landing with bay windows, you can see the sunsetting in the cemetery across the street there every night, Hardwood floors throughout, spun wooden pillars that frame nursery nook in master bedroom, Florida room with all windows in place, Front enclosed porch is mostly large glass windows and also has a section of glass block flooring that would let light in back then. 3 Sunburst windows on the first floor along with original large chestnut and glass doors from the porch and dining room, kitchen staircase, lots of doors and staircases you would never know are there. Wrap around hallway from kitchen to living room and dining room, restored flagstone side yard off of kitchen and full fenced in yard around perimeter, original stone property markers still in place, 2 story restored garage with oil pit, 100 year old Japanese maple tree on front lawn, we are directly across the street from Northwood Park and directly next to Simpson playground
