Boal Mansion Museum was once the home of the Boal family, founders of Boalsburg, their descendants still inhabit the town. The mansion is over 200 years old & contains all of the original furnishings. Perhaps the most unique exhibit within is the Christopher Columbus Chapel. In the 1890's Colonel Theodore Davis Boal, traveled to Europe and married Mathilde, a descendent of Christopher Columbus. Mathilde inherited the Columbus Chapel and had it brought it over to Boalsburg in 1909. The Columbus Chapel is a centuries-old chapel of the Columbus family. Imported from Spain, it contains the Admiral's Desk of Christopher Columbus, fine European art and two pieces of the True Cross of Jesus.
