Buchanan State Forest encompassing approximately 70,000 acres was named after President James Buchanan, a Pennsylvania native. The forest woodlands straddle the Allegheny Mountains in Franklin, Fulton & Bedford counties. The abandoned PA Turnpike tunnel, Sideling Hill can be found within.
