The Memorial Library building was originally constructed in 1913 with funds bequeathed by former North East resident John McCord. Overtime the library was expanded and renovated. North East is named for its northeastern location in Erie County; it is in close proximity to Lake Erie as well. It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and Victorian Era architecture can be found within.
