The Allegheny National Forest (ANF) encompasses roughly 513,000 acres in northwestern Pennsylvania and includes land in Elk, Forest, McKean and Warren counties. Much of the forest is remote with small towns and villages bordering the outskirts. Approximately 463,000 acres are forested and 11,000 acres are covered by water (primarily the Allegheny Reservoir). The forest is comprised of both pine and deciduous trees with a landscape featuring numerous rock outcroppings both small and massive. Rimrock Overlook is located within the Allegheny National Forest & is situated along Route 59, west of Bradford. It is a designated scenic overlook. Highlights include: views of the Allegheny Reservoir and a trail of large rock formations along the Allegheny Reservoir shoreline.
