Built c. 1858 as a family residence, Robert Heysham Sayre constructed the Revival-style mansion in the heart of the Lehigh Valley. As the chief engineer for the Lehigh Valley Railroad he chose a site in close proximity to the smoke and noise of the railroad without care or concern. The mansion is surrounded by two acres enhanced with century old trees.
