The Pocono Environmental Education Center is located within the 77,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on the Delaware River. The dining hall, technically called a visitor activity center was designed by Petet Bohlin, who is known for designing the Apple stores, Bill Gates' house etc. It is passive solar and has won 7 national and international design awards. It seats 250 with a full institutional kitchen. It was designed for visitors to pass through a forest then wetlands before entering the building through an opening in the dark north wall leading finally into a bright, sun-lit main room.
