The Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown opened in 1940. In addition to hosting numerous sporting events especially minor league hockey, the arena serves as a concert venue. The 80,534 square foot building has a seating capacity of 4,050. The arena gained fame after it was featured in the 1978 film SLAP SHOT starring Paul Newman.
