The land that today comprises Loyalsock State Forest was once owned by the Central Pennsylvania Lumber Company & included many sawmill towns. Sold in the 1930's these towns were rebuilt by the CCC & hosted camps focused on conservation, including reforestation. Today the forest spans over 114,000 acres of northern Pennsylvania's "Endless Mountains".
