THE YANKEE MERCANTILE, LIVING QUARTERS

The Yankee Mercantile built in 1820 has been a continuously operated General Store. Due to its close proximity to the Mason Dixon Line it was raided numerous times by the CSA during the Civil War. The building boasts a general store, shelving, fireplaces, hardwood floors & other features unique to the Civil War era. In addition, the doors to the shop are referred to as "Indian" doors; they can be secured to protect the glass on top from breakage from potential intruders. It was common for the owner to live in a residence within the building, this is true of the current owner as well; the living quarters are also available for filming. Located in rural McConnellsburg, the property spans four acres; it includes a stream, green pastures and a five stall horse barn. Views of the mountain behind the house are visible adding to the overall ambience . The owner is very film friendly and willing to accommodate industry professionals with any staging, etc. that may be necessary for a successful shoot.
