Founded in 1898, Palmerton emerged as a borough due to its close proximity to anthracite coal, the Lehigh Canal and railroads. Today it is a charming town in Carbon County. Stoney Ridge is located around an industrial site; it is believed that the mounds of rocks were deposited during the most recent Ice Age.
