Construction of the Carbon County Courthouse commenced in April 1893. The Romanesque Revival building features a stately tower, turrets and ornate fireplaces. The exterior was built from sandstone mined at a local quarry in Rockport. A clock & a 2,122 pound bell can be found in the belfry.
