Built in 1902 by the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad Company, the station operated for over 80 years. A large portion of the interior and roof were destroyed by a fire in 1989. As a result, the Quakertown Train Station Historical Society formed to rebuild and restore the station to its original elegance. A combination of grants and fundraising activities enabled the society to restore the building with the wood finishes and ornate chandeliers it displayed a century ago.
