Nay Aug Park, Scranton

Nay Aug Park, located within the city of Scranton, was eastablished by Mayor W.L. Connell in 1893. The park's name means “noisy water or roaring brook” in the lanaguage of the area's original inhabbitants the Munsee Indians, a subgroup of the larger Lenape tribe. The park features open green space, walking trails, cultural attractions and a newly reopened public pool within an urban setting. It remains one of the region’s most visited outdoor destinations for year-round recreation. The park’s most prominent feature is the Nay Aug Gorge, a National Natural Landmark carved by Roaring Brook. Visitors can view the gorge and waterfall from scenic overlooks and walking paths. The David Wenzel Treehouse offers elevated views of the landscape, while nearby trails wind through forested areas and along the water.
