The house at 104 Willow Road, Ford City, Armstrong County is on a 5 acre corner lot. It was owned and built by John and Ethel “Florenda Guthrie, grandparents of the present owner. They started their life together in a one room school house and in the 1920’s they decided to build the home pictured; they hired a carpenter and did some of the work themselves. They lived in the garage (pictured in the rear) until the house was finished. The house was built from the lumber of the home of an uncle & aunt of John Guthrie's and is a Sears & Roebuck kit house; one of the better option houses with glass French interior doors to the library-study room off of the living room. The walls are plastered with varnished trim; the living room & dining room front windows have diamond shaped leaded upper sashes. There is also an open staircase built in an "arts & craft" style. The house features a full front porch with double columns at each load point with three on the ends. The interior is mostly original with a molding to hang pictures on the higher ceilings of the lower floor . The original light fixtures, which had a lot of the original "Kentucky brand" light bulbs in them have been stored away and the kitchen has original cabinets. The house pictured on the farm at 995 Worthington Slatelick Road, Worthington, Armstrong County was owned by Ward & Hazel Claypoole, also grandparents of the present owner. It is situated on 75 acres and was originally owned and built by the Minteer family in 1889. It still retains the original open staircase and some original trim, it has three porches with a view from the front porch spanning over 20 miles. The Kerr’s old store building is located at 1317 Clark Avenue, North Apollo, Armstrong County. It appears today as depicted in the photos. The small blue house is on the same lot, next to the Kerr’s Store.
