The New St. Nicholas Breaker is an active mine located near Pottsville, the county seat of Schuylkill County. This mine is operated by Reading Anthracite Company and primarily produces coal. A coal breaker is a coal processing plant which breaks coal into various useful sizes. Coal breakers also removed impurities from the coal (typically slate) and deposited them into a dump.
